Chocolate lilies / Fritillaria biflora

Chocolate lilies at the Santa Rosa Plateau EcologicalReserve. Chocolate lilies are also known as the Cleopatra of the Fritillaries because of their dark beauty. A less evocative alternate name is Mission Bells. These are uncommon flowers, well worth the hike at the Reserve to see them. This is a link to Tom Chester’s excellent field guide to the Reserve.
